Prague

Karl's Bridge at Prague's high noon-
A crowd moving toward a crowd.
New buildings and old,
old and new and old again.
To walk through once more,
each step goes back a hundred years.
To move slowly to "Alt-Noi-Shul" synagogue,
to feel the blast of air of years past
at the staircase leading directly to the great Sage.
But just around the corner,
not far away,
still one hears Baroque melodies
coming from St Nicholas' church.
And a crowd of people who know nothing
about the great Rabbi Loev of Prague,
are still strolling in the narrow lanes.
Only we, like a Golem*
stand alone,
overwhelmed....
